Welcome back! ברוכים הבאים Bienvenue!
A new school year is finally upon us and everyone at OJCS is so excited to welcome back returning faces and say hello to all the new members of our OJCS family. Along with the new students who are experiencing #TheOJCSDifference for the first time today we have also made some strong additions to our Admin team: we have added a dynamic new Head of Jewish Studies, Dr. Avi Marcovitz, who is going to deepen and expand the work we have done revitalizing Jewish learning and living at OJCS; and we have added an exuberant Development Director, Staci Zemlak-Kenter, who is already building relationships and thinking about alumni engagement.
As well…Our work as the first private school in Ontario to partner with the Centre Franco-Ontarien de Ressources Pédagogiques (Franco-Ontarian Centre for Educational Resources) or CFORP to implement the TACLEF is in full swing. (We are also prototyping a French-language after-school art program)…AND we will be taking the critical step of translating our new Homework Philosophy into an implementation strategy…AND we will be deepening our work with blogs and blogfolios…AND we will open up the OJCS Makerspace this fall…AND We will continue to build on our prototyping culture. And so much more. Stay up-to-date on everything that is going on at OJCS by checking out – or better yet you can subscribe to – The OJCS Blogosphere (click here).
And lastly, in case you missed reading it in Dr. Mitmacher’s latest blog post, in the next couple of months there will be a major announcement on how we plan to secure the long-term future of our school. It is very exciting and will be a big moment for us and our community.
It’s going to be another great school year at the Ottawa Jewish Community School!!
