The OJCS library collection consists of over 20,000 volumes in English, French and Hebrew that support all levels of curricular and recreational needs. It is place for students to enjoy reading in a relaxed environment and develop their inquiry and research skills, critical thinking, and responsible use of text and digital information. Students in every grade can have scheduled library time during the week, at their teacher’s discretion.

Thanks to an upgrade in the summer of 2018, the OJCS library is now run by state-of-the art online software.  Along with on-location upgrades, such as self-serve checkout and a much improved search and discover function, our software allows student to interact with the library online- reserving books, creating reading lists, writing their own book reviews and so much more – all from any computer, phone, tablet…virtually anywhere!

Technological resources are always available to the students as well. Desktop and laptop workstations, printers and presentation stations are all part of the inviting environment at the school library for our students and families at OJCS.

Our Director of Library & Media Centre, Brigitte, supports literacy through ongoing collection development, book talks and programs for our students and the neighbouring preschools.  Brigitte also runs regular workshops on the topics of media literacy and digital citizenship, which provides students with essential skills in learning how to responsibly and critically navigate their lives online.

You can reach the library from Monday to Friday by calling 613-722-0020 ext. 2, or by email at
